Different ores and concentrates have been tested to be amenable to leaching of copper, nickel, zinc,cobalt, uranium by acidophilic microorganisms in single or by mixed cultures of different species of both mesophilic and thermophilic microbes (Watling, 2006).In mesophilic conditions, ferric ions are effective for leaching chalcopyrite with bacteria maintaining high ferric to ferrous ratio and a high redox potential (Abhilash et al., 2013).
