Objective Sensitive and specific biomarkers for early detection of the severity of acute pancreatitis (AP) are urgently needed to decide the appropriate therapeutic regimen.Previously, the Solexa sequencing had showed that serum microRNA-19a (mir-19a) exhibit enhanced expression in severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) compared to mild acute pancreatitis (MAP).In this study, we investigated whether the serum mir-19a could be an early biomarker to differentiate SAP from MAP.
