The paraventricular nuclues of the hypothalamus (PVN) is a central site for the integration of the neuroendocrine system and the autonomic nervous system. The PVN appears to be an important regulatory region of the hypothalamus that plays a critical role in the regulation of cardiovascular responses. However, the neurochemical mechanisms in the PVN that are responsible for the regulation of cardiaovascular responses have not been fully elucidated. Therefore,in the present study,we use microdialysis, microinjection and high-performance liquid chromatography technique to investigate the possible involvement of several amino acids of the PVN on cardiovascular responses in freely moving conscious rats. The results will contribute to clarify the central mechanism of the cardiaovascular regulation.
