Homogeneous dispersion or full exfoliation of nanoparticles such as graphene in the matrix is one of the most important factors to achieve high-performance polymer nanocomposites.In this talk, we will summarize and present our research work in the past years on how to achieve fine dispersion of carbon nanomaterials (e.g., carbon nanotubes, graphene) in aqueous and organic media as well as polymer matrices by using "hybridization" approach via an effective combination (through π-π stacking or electrostatic interaction, hydrogen bonding, etc) among different kinds of nanoscale building blocks (such as carbon nanotubes, graphene, clay, layered double hydroxide).The hybrid nanofillers thus prepared are prone to be finely dispersed in different media or matrices, which are beneficial for fabricating high-performance and multi-functional polymer nanocomposites.
