zinc exists mainly as hemimorphite and srnithsonite in a zinc silicate ore from LanPing Mine in southwest of China.In the present paper, sample and leach residue were characterized mineralogically and a leaching study were carded out to assess the effect of sulfuric acid concentration, oxygen partial pressure, reaction time and temperature on the extraction of zinc, dissolution of silica and filtration rate of leach solution.99.25% of zinc extraction, 0.20% of silica dissolution and 890 L·m-2·h-1 of filtration rate of leach solution were obtained under the optimum conditions which are: sulfuric acid isl20 g·L-1, oxygen partial pressure is 1000 kPa, leaching time is 90min and reacting temperature is 120℃.After leaching under optimum conditions the main minerals in leach residue are quartz and hematite, a small amount of undissolved oxide minerals of iron, lead and aluminum are associated with quartz.
