Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have displayed unique properties, which offer a variety of opportunities for applications in nanomedicine, such as diagnosis, disease treatment, imaging, and tissue engineering [1].Macrophages are best well known can rapidly response to external stimuli and play a crucial role in CNT-mediated biological response [2].To better understand the distinctive role of CNTs in modulating the function of macrophages,we took oxidized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) with the average length of 900 nm as a model material to explore the effects of MWCNT on macrophages phenotype and corresponding function, lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and combined ILs (IL-4/IL-10/IL-13) were also used to treat macrophage into classical and alternative activation status respectively.
