Active Aeroelastic Wing Technology (AAWT) was first demonstrated by NASA X-53 proiect in 2006.adequate roll motion was achieved by actively induced wing twist and roll rate was comparable to production F/A-18.Inspired by AAWT and tribute to Wright brothers wing warping flight control, the research in Cranfield University considered a tail-less UAV design, whose lateral and longitudinal flight control depend on a pair of Seamless Aeroelastic Wing (SAW) and Seamless Aeroelastic Fin (SAF).High lights in this project are: 1.Actuation mechanism design which alters the camber of airfoil seamlessly.2.Active control of aeroelastic wing with non-uniform divergence stability.3.Aeroelastic wing dynamic response modelling and AAW aircraft flight simulation.4.Wind tunnel test results that verifies SAW benefit and feasibility.
