Aim: Salvianolic acid A (SalA) is one of the main water-soluble active components in Salvia miltiorrhizae.The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of SalA on prevention and treatment of diabetic nephropathy.Methods: Spontaneously type 2 diabetic mice (KK/Upj-Ay/J) were used in the experiment.The mice with blood glucose above 8 mmol/L were chosen and randomly divided into 4 groups: diabetic control; SalA treatment groups (0.4, 1.3, and 4 mg/kg); age matched C57BL/6 mice were empolyed as normal control.SalA was oral administrated daily for 4 months.
