The maturity discrimination of hepatopancreas and gonadal development of Eriocheir sinensis always is a big challenge,and cannot be solved by conventional method,including needle puncture and naked eye observation.Moreover,the lipid content of E.sinensis has closely related to the survival rate of E.sinensis,especially in young stage.To investigate the hepatopancreas and gonadal development,and lipid content of E.sinensis,a two-dimensional (2D) low-field Tl-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technique was developed to scan the whole E.sinensis.The results showed that the hepatopancreas and gonadal tissues distribution could be clearly identified by 2D 1H MRI images,and the size of hepatopancreas and gonadal tissues has significant difference in immature and mature E.sinensis (p < 0.05).In addition,total lipid area of mature male and female E.sinensis with 3659.86 and 4218.00 mm2 was calculated by 3D 1H MRI model and was significantly higher than that of immature ones with 1716.84 and 1442.78 mm2.Therefore,1H MRI scanning method was developed to accurately discriminate the hepatopancreas and gonadal development of E.sinensis using non-destructive detection technique,indicating its wide application in aquatic animals and other species.
