Our laboratory has been interested in the mechanism of bone formation and resorption, and gene therapy and stem cell based bone regeneration and repair.In the past, we have explored using growth factor gene therapy and gene modified fibroblast cells to enhance bone regeneration.Recently, we have begun to explore a novel mechanism of enhancing skeletal repair by using nanotechnology for biomaterials, and mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs)and endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) for vascularized bone regeneration for critical-sized bone defects.
