Epoxy composite materials were prepared with three different reinforcements including zinc oxide nanoparticles, alumina microparticles and nanoclays at the weight fractions of 1, 3, 5, and 8 wt% by a combined processing of mechanical stirring and ultrasonication. The flexural and impact properties of such composites were initially determined to understand the reinforcement efficiency caused by the inclusions of rigid micro/nanoparticles.
