Objective: To develop a kind ofmicroballoons which could float over the gastric fluid for more than 12 h.and with drug sustained released.Methods : An emulsion solvent diffusion method was used to prepare the microballoons.And the factors affecting the drug-release rate and buoyancy were investigated.Results : Eudragit EPO could promote the drug-release rate obviously without decreasing the buoyancy significantly.It was also found that the preparation temperature determined the formation of cavity inside the microballoons.Conclusion : Microballoons which possessed both excellent buoyancy ability and suitable release rate could be prepared by the emulsion solvent diffusion method.
