The chemical cross talk between rice and barnyard grass was investigated.When barnyardgrass and rice seedlings were grown together, allelopathic activity of the rice was increased.Even though rice and barnyardgrass were incubated with enough nutrient conditions, rice allelopathy was still increased.Thus, some mechanisms may be involved in the barnyardgrass-induced rice allelopathy rather than nutrient competition between two species.
