Background: Intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) do not shape into a stable and well-structured three-dimensional fold, while they are biologically active. It has been reported that many domains were disordered. Our research of domain disorder in the human proteome found that structural disorder ratios (SDR) of some protein domains in different contexts were obviously different. In this study, we try to explore the causes of the variation of domain structure disorder ratio (DSDR) and investigate the functional effects of the variation of DSDR.
