It is common understanding lake shrinkage and laky salinization, which bring the degeneration of ecosystem in arid region valley. The inland lakes is shrinking rapidly mainly because of the diversion of the upstream of influent rivers for irrigation purposes. To research the evolution law and development trend prediction of the inland lakes,it is very important that how to obtain the lake salinization duration or water-salt approximate balance duration. In this article,we proposed a new lake classification method which merely including 4 types lake in the arid region based on the water changing characteristics and water bal.ance principle of the inland lakes. With this method,we supposed rectangular tank lake model, analyzed the conception of drying time and drying index, the salinization time and the water-salt approximate equilibrium time could be gained by introducing some concepts, including the relatively stable salinity ratio and the evaporation-precipitation-inflow ratio and the evaporation-precipitation-outflow ratio.Through some cases were studied, some advice could provide vigorous support to the water-salt control mechanism of ecological restoration on arid inland lakes in China.
