Changes of pattern of serum proteins were studied in the topmouth gudgeon ( Pseudornsbora parva) after exposure to sub -lethal concentrations of methomyl and fipronil.The 96h-LC50 values of fipronil to the topmouth gudgeon 0.143 mg/l.The sub -lethal exposure studies for 96h were designed at 1/10,1/5,1/3 and 1/2 of 96h-LC50 values of methomyl and fipronil in the topmouth gudgeon.The present study showed that the staining intensity of low mobility protein fractions 3 and 5 of 142 and 213g/1 methomyl exposure group increased more 2 times than that of control group.A new protein fraction was appeared and fractions 6 and 7 disappeared of 43 g/1 methomyl exposure group after 96 hour.The staining intensity of fractions 3,4,5 and 6 increased in all fipronil exposure groups after 96h compared to control group.The decrease of three high mobility proteins、fractions 9,10 and 11 in staining intensity was observed in the serum of fish exposed to methomyl and fipronil.The present study reveals that the carbamate insecticide methomyl,and fipronil,a phenylpyrazole randomly used have profound effect on serum proteins.The changes of electropheorogrom of fish serum proteins may be used as biomarkers of fish exposed to methomyl or fipronil.
