This study aims to investigate the influence of Mg/Si ratio (Mg+Si =1.0 at.%) to aging behavior on Al-Mg-Si alloy. Those alloys were hot extruded to 1.5 mm in thickness and cold rolled to 1.0 mm in thickness sheet. Those sheets were solution heat treated at 848 K for 3.6 ks, quenched into cold water and then aged at 473 K in oil bath.Mechanical properties were investigated by means of universal tensile tester and Vickers microhardness tester.Tensile test was carried out using the peak-aged samples.Ultimate tensile stress (UTS) and 0.2 % proof stress increased with decreasing of Mg/Si ratio.Total and uniform elongations increased with increasing of Mg/Si.Microstructure of peak-aged samples was observed using transmission electron microscopy (TEM).TEM observation confirmed a different precipitation sequence, β" phase in lower Mg/Si ratio and βphase in higher Mg/Si ratio.Number density of precipitates increased with decreasing of Mg/Si ratio.
