Four metamorphic complexes (e.g.Xuelong Shan,Diancang Shan,Ailao Shan and Yao Shan-Day Nui Con Voi from northwest to southeast)are distributed along the Ailao Shan-Red River shear zone. They provide important clues to the understanding of the formation of the present day tectonic framework and of the tectonic evolution of Eastern Tibet and Southeast Asia during the India-Eurasia collision. The Yao Shan-Day Nui Con Voi complex is the southernmost one of the four complexes. On the basis of field observations and microstructural analysis, the anisotropies of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) of 186 specimens from 20 sites along the Xinjie-Pingbian section across the central part of the Yao Shan area were measured and calculated to determine their magnetic fabric parameters and in order to explore the geometry, kinematic characteristics of the ductile shear zone evidenced in the Yao Shan metamorphic complex.
