Objective: To determine the status of nurses who educate patients to provide the basis of a patient education plan regarding safe sexual behavior.Methods: In this study, an interview was conducted and a questionnaire was distributed.The following criteria were considered for the patients enrolled in this study: age, 25 to60 years; married; and subjected to chemotherapy in Tianjin Cancer Hospital from May to July 2013.The demands for sexual activity, quality, safe sex, and source of sexuality-related information were investigated.Nurses who have rendered patient care in Tianjin Cancer Hospital for three or more yearsduring the investigation were also enrolled in the study.The following topics were considered for the nurse participants:importance of patient education on safe sexual behavior of cancer patients; practical ways of delivering patient education regarding safe sexual behavior; aspects influencing sexuality;ability of delivering patient education; and relevant trainings received.
