In the past, radiotherapy was seldom applied to treat hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).With the advances in radiotherapeutic technology, stereotactic ablative radiotherapy(SABR) has been applied successfully to treat patients with HCC.We examined the efficacy and safety of Cyberknife SABR and its effect on the survival of patients with HCC.We also determined the effectiveness of SABR on patients who were unsuitable for or had suffered from unsuccessful transarterial chemoembolization (TACE).A total of 53 patients with68 unresectable HCC tumors were treated by Cyberknife SABR from June 2008 to June 2011.The tumors measured from 1.1 to13 cm with a median of 4.3 cm.
