  Cellulose is an organic compound with the formula (C6H10O5)n,a polysaccharide consisting of a linear chain of several hundred to over ten thousand β(1→4) linked D-glucose units.In this work,methylene cellulose carried out degradation reaction of polymer by using Fenton reaction with hydrogen peroxide and iron ion.Glucose and xylose was formed by radical forming agent at 25℃.All product after batch reaction (150℃,6hr) according to different methyl cellulose(10,20,30,40,and 50wt%) concentrations were analyzed by GC/MS and HPLC.The results show that methanol is obtained to 20% while glucose and xylose residues are formed to 60%.By HPLC analysis,the average molecular weight of the residues were 160,161,152,133 and 99 Da,respectively.
