The trans-membrane molecules in asymmetric junction play important roles in signal transduction during the differentiation and maturation of neurons. The previous researches have demonstrated that drosophila Neuroligins regulates synapse formation and function through interacting with Neurexin. However the functions of Nenroligins in neuron development havent been reported so far.The Drosophila neuroligin3 (CG34127) is one of the homologues of vertebrate neuroligins. Our immunostaining analysis detected that dNlg3 primarily concentrates in photoreceptor cells and mushroom γ lobe.By generating a dnlg3 mutant fly with genomic deletion by the strategy that based on FLP recombinase and the large array of FRT-bearing insertions, axon miss targeting were found in photoreceptor cells axon through immunostaining analysis of this mutant.Whats more, our MARCM analysis show that mushroom body neurons in which nlg3 gene was destroyed by a p-element insertion often emerge close loops in axon terminal or deviating the defined road. These results implied that neuroligin3 may play a role in axon guidance.
