Nutrient's driving role on the outbreak of the world's largest macroalgae blooms in the Ye

　　Since 2007, the worlds largest trans-regional macroalgae blooms have oc curred in the Yellow Sea (YS) for 7 consecutive years, which origin is believed to be loca ted along the Jiangsu coastal areas.In this study, long-time spatial and temporal variations in dissolved inorganic nutrients (NO3-N, PO4-P and SiO3-Si) and N/P ratio along the Jiangsu coasts during spring over the past three decades were analyzed.The importance of nutrient input from rivers and marine animal aquaculture in the Jiangsu Province was also studied.
