Studies on the polymorphisms of X-ray repair cross-complementing group1 (XRCC1) R194W and R280H have shown in conclusive trends in the risk of breast cancer. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the role of (XRCC1) R194W and R280H geno types in breast cancer susceptibility. We performed a meta-analysis on all available studies, which included 9,357 and 9,803 R194W cases and controls, and 5,943 and 5,613 R280H cases and controls, respectively.Overall, the 194W allele had no significant effect on breast cancer compared with the 194R allele in all subjects and subgroups (American, European and Asian individuals).
