Objective ADAM33 is one of the most exciting candidate genes for asthma in recent years since its first association with the disease in the Caucasian populations.Since then, many association studies have analyzed allele and haplotype frequencies in dis tinct populations yielding varying results: some have replicated the association, although with different alleles or haplotypes being asso ciated, whereas others have failed to replicate the association. We undertook an association study to explore the role of ADAM33 genetic variants in the Chinese Han asthmatic patients.
