The increasing atmospheric CO2 concentration has led to concerns about global warming[1].Therefore,it is imperative for the societies to face with the serious demand for minimization of CO2 emission.Steel slag is a co-product of steelmaking process, consisting essentially of calcium silicates and ferrites, which can be a kind of secondary resources if be used properly.The estimated production tonnage for steel slag burden in China is nearly 100 million tons, caused serious pollution.Carbonation of alkaline Ca-rich and Mg-rich materials such as steel slag can be used as one of the available and safe carbon capture due to the permanent storage of CO2 in forms of carbonates for the urgent needs of CO2 emissions reduction and large amount of solid waste resources recycling[2].
