1.The Discovery of Globular Domain of Adiponectin as a Potential Drug in the Treatment of Diabetic Heart Disease In a study conducted concomitantly with ours,Dr.Walsh confirmed the role of full-length adiponectin (fAd) in cardioprotection by means of virus transfection.However,the clinical application of this therapeutic approach is rather confined.Our results (published in Circulation) indicated that myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (MI/R) injury was markedly increased in adiponectin knockout mice,whereas the administration of exogenous small-molecule recombinant human globular domain of adiponectin exerted substantial cardioprotection,thus pointing to the potential clinical application of adiponectin.
