The "universal" low-voltage electrical contact material Ag-CdO is gradually abandoned because of the toxicity of Cd.It has been a constant pursuit to find an ideal substitute for the Ag-CdO.In this study, we added Ti3AlC2, a MAX phase-a family of materials possessing the best attributes of metals and ceramics, to Ag matrix as a dispersed phase to develop a new electrical contact material, Ag-Ti3AlC2, which was fabricated by a simple and cost-saving PLS (Pressureless Sintering) process.
