The TOR (Target Of Rapamycin) kinase and its associated protein complexes regulate growth in response to environmental cues, including nutrients and hormones.Indeed the TOR signaling pathway, which controls essential biological outputs like mRNA translation, ribosome biogenesis, translocation of regulatory proteins, autophagy and storage of reserve compounds, has important and numerous roles in nutrient sensing and in the adaptation of development and metabolism to external conditions.
