有颌脊椎动物都可以通过剪接pre-mRNA而产生膜结合型免疫球蛋白M(mIgM)重链rnRNA.然而,四足类和辐鳍鱼类的剪接方式并不相同,前者跨膜区(TM)外显子连接于IgM CH4外显子近3末端的隐蔽剪切位点上,后者则表现出多种剪接样式:板鳃类膜型IgM的形成与四足类相似;软骨硬鳞鱼类包括IgM CH1-TM(3末端剪接)、CH3-TM(隐蔽剪接点剪接)和CH4-TM(隐蔽剪接点剪接)三种方式;
