Background Retrograde coronary venous delivery of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) or bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been demonstrated to target infarcted myocardium. The present study aimed to determine whether combining bFGF with MSCs via coronary vein infusion would further preserve cardiac function and ameliorate left ventricular remodeling in a canine model of myocardial infarction.
