The theory of power discourse proposed by French philosopher Michel Foucault provides a new theoretical perspective and research method for translation studies. In fact, translation is not a purely informational transformation between texts but a product controlled by various power discourses in the source language culture and the target language culture. The manipulation of the power of discourse on translation activities mainly includes the social manipulation of history, politics, economy, ideology, ethics, education and religion. Therefore, translation studies can not stop at the aspects of writing and translation strategies. They should also take into consideration and analyze the elements of culture which are diachronic.
