An average of 204 private business owners are born every day. In terms of Jiangsu’s private economy, 2004 was a truly “soaring year.” Recently, the Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce and the Provincial Bureau of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises issued the “2004 Private Economy Development Report of Jiangsu Province”. The vice chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce Li Ren conducted a detailed analysis of the development of private enterprises in the province. As of the end of 2004, Jiangsu Province had a total of 20.26 million private enterprises and individual industrial and commercial households, an increase of 18.2% over the same period of the previous year, of which, private enterprises accumulated 418,200, an increase of 74,500.
