INTRODUCTION Bickel (1990) and Lines (1993) have studied the uncertainty of velocity / depth in the horizontal deflection before (time domain) velocity analysis. Rathor (1997) extends this analysis to sloping reflectors. These studies answer some of the important issues that arise in the traditional Centro-Centric Point (CMP) time-domain velocity analysis. However, it is unclear whether their conclusion can be applied to the migration velocity analysis (MVA) of prestack-migration depths.
