该所的研究活动主要集中在劳动与健康的相互关系的研究上,其涉及的范围较广,包括职业病、职业性多发病、意外事故及其预防、工业卫生、工业毒理、劳动生理、人体功效学、职业心理学、劳动保护及有关职业医学的其它课题,其中大多数的课题与实际应用密切相关。最终的目的是解决两方面的问题,一方面是认识、减少和消除职业危害,另一方面则是改善和创造卫生、安全和更满意的劳动条件。
