为了充分地弄清虫媒病的动态,人们必须了解整个时期虫媒数量如何改变及为什么改变。我们描述了在波多黎各埃及伊蚊数量季节性消长情况的一次长期协作调查。在计划的头三年的每个月期间调查的全部五个居民区中,均发现有埃及伊蚊孳生。蚊子的密度与雨量呈正相关关系,这种关系在波多黎各岛南部海岸地区的旱季尤为明显。丢弃的轮胎和供动物饮水的盘子是两种最常见的伊蚊蚊幼孳生地。总的说来,波多黎各的住宅比其它热带地区的住宅有更多的埃及伊蚊孳生地,这可能是因为波多黎各较富裕所致。
In order to fully understand the dynamics of arboviruses, one must understand how the amount of the arboreal has changed and why it changed throughout the period. We describe a long-term collaborative survey of seasonal ebb and flow of Aedes aegypti in Puerto Rico. Aedes aegypti is found in all five settlements surveyed during each of the first three years of the plan. The density of mosquitoes is positively correlated with rainfall, especially in the dry season in the southern coast of Puerto Rico. Discarded tires and plates for animal drinking are the two most common mosquito breeding sites. In general, Puerto Rico’s homes have more Aedes aegypti mosquitoes than homes in other tropical areas, probably because of the comparative affluence of Puerto Rico.
