嘉峪关魏晋墓群的彩绘砖画,其题材内容丰富多彩。以简洁生动、粗狂活泼的手法呈现出一幅生动的现实主义画卷,这些彩绘砖壁画色彩鲜艳,风格独特,为人们再现了魏晋时期河西地区的政治、经济、文化和民俗生活,更多地呈现了古代河西地区贵族和普通百姓的日常生活场景。魏晋时期社会动荡,使这一时期的绘画文献记载非常的零星、简略,绘画资料更是少之又少,这一古墓群彩绘砖画的发现,填补了中国绘画史的这个缺憾,成为中国绘画史上的重要发现和补充。
Jiayuguan Wei and Jin tombs painted brick paintings, the subject matter is rich and colorful. A vivid realist picture is presented in a concise, vivid and vigorous manner. These painted brick murals are colorful and unique in style, which give people a vivid representation of the political, economic, cultural and folk life in the Hexi Corridor during the Wei and Jin Dynasties. The scene presents the ancient life of aristocrats and ordinary people in Hexi. The social turmoil in the Wei and Jin Dynasties made the records of the paintings in this period very sporadic and brief, with very few painting materials. The discovery of the painted brick paintings in this ancient tombs filled the shortcoming of the history of Chinese painting and became The Important Findings and Supplements in the History of Chinese Painting.
