In literary works, some so-called minorities are often ignored by readers. In fact, they play an important role in such aspects as flanking, rendering the atmosphere, connecting and promoting plot development. From this point of view, we mainly carry out the functional analysis of the roles of the two little people “Ernst Varow” and “Shepherd Ernst” in The Seventh Cross. The author Anna Siegus emphasized the human nature with these two little people and expressed his own political and historical hopes. Together with other people, they reflected the reality of the Third Reich from that point of view. It is pointed out that these two characters are small but indispensable and that they are an indispensable part of the novel.
