The reason for the unidirectional compression failure of brittle materials seems simple, but in fact it is complicated. Brittle materials are often not homogenous, continuous, or isotropic, as seen in detail, such as small holes and fissures (discontinuities) in the rock surface. In this macroscopic view, there is no tensile stress in one-way compression, and there is tensile stress when viewed from a thin position. It is this tensile stress that breaks the brittle material. The theory of maximum tensile strain can qualitatively explain the cause of single-pressure rupture of brittle materials, but it cannot explain the reason why the single pressure of plastic materials does not break. More importantly, the theory of maximum tensile strain quantification has relational
