众所周知,图书馆是电大整体工作中不可分割的有机组成部分,而藏书是图书馆用以开展一切业务工作的最重要的物质基础,藏书的质量既关系到图书馆工作的全局,又直接影响到学校教学工作和科研工作的开展.在普通高等院校十分重视图书馆的馆藏建设,把图书馆比做高校三大支柱之一(师资、图书馆、实验室)的同时,把藏书比作建造图书馆这根支柱的钢筋混凝土.同样,电大图书馆的藏书也必须最大限度地满足教学和科研工作的需要.研究电大图书馆馆藏如何为教学及科研工作服务,对推动电大教育事业的发展,实现图书馆自身的自动化管理,具有更现实而深远意义.
