1935年6月上旬,红军主力渡过金沙江之后不久,长征队伍中突然不见了陈云,连与陈云最亲近的人也不知道他到哪里去了。部队中出现了种种传说,有的说陈云已经牺牲了,更多的人说陈云失踪了。地下党员护送陈云出川原来,红军长征开始后,蒋介石一方面调集部队对红军主力进行围追堵截,另一方面疯狂破坏白区党的组织,致使上海的党组织遭到严重破坏。当时,苏区中央与共产国际的联系,大都是通过上海进行联系。
