According to Ovum Research’s forecast, other predictions are that phone companies will switch from traditional phones to Internet-based voice transmissions faster. Ovum analysts believe the pressure from companies that have started using IP phones internally will have a huge impact on large phone companies starting to move from traditional phones to IP phones. “As IP has become the foundation of corporate communications, pressure from company users to phone companies can make phone companies aware of IP as their backbone,” he said. "IP telephony is the result of packet-switched protocols over the Internet Instead of the traditional network loop exchange. This technique has been around for a while, but its quality of transmission over the WAN still needs improvement.
