According to the equilibrium and compatible conditions, a new truss model theory is proposed in the first paper of this series based on the new stress-strain relationship of softened concrete. The model theory accurately predicts the torsional behavior of 103 effective test beams found in the literature. However, this theory is too complicated for design.
