加拿大获称“绿色屋顶王国”加拿大有很多楼顶花园,其中最大的位于温哥华会展中心西翼楼上,落成于2009年4月3日,面积达6英亩,是2010年温哥华冬奥会的“献礼工程”。绿色屋顶在加拿大大中城市里并不罕见。当然,屋顶被开发成绿地或花园的通常是较大型的建筑,如学校、养老院、写字楼、公寓等,一来这些建筑屋顶面积较大,比较适合开发,二来绿色屋顶适宜在平屋顶开发,而大多数别墅或城市屋(连体别墅)都设计成尖顶或坡顶。
