The Russian Far East and the post-Baikal region are the border and the rear of the former Soviet Union. After the disintegration of the Soviet Union, the Russian Federation implemented the policy of privatization and foreign trade liberalization. The international market economy flooded into this piece of virgin land closed by the planned economy for many years. High potential and poor environment are the two major characteristics of the Far East market. The opportunities and risks of producing wealth coexist at the same time.
