烛龙——传说与盘古齐名的龙(图一)。它造就了春夏秋冬与白昼黑夜。它是人面龙身,全身红色,眼睛是竖直的。当它闭上眼睛,整个世界天昏地暗;当它睁开眼睛,就给世界带来光明。它住在西北海之外的章尾山上。它不吃东西,不睡觉,也不呼吸。它若一喘息,就形成了风和雨。因为它照亮了九泉之下的黑暗,所以人们把它叫作烛龙(《山海经》)。后来,人们常用烛龙、龙烛,形容幽阴中的火光或光明。
Candle dragon - Legend and Pan Gu well-known dragon (Figure 1). It created the spring, summer, autumn and winter with day and night. It is human face dragons, red body, the eyes are vertical. When it closes its eyes, the entire world is dark and dusk; when it opens its eyes, it brings light to the world. It lives in Zhangwei Mountain outside the northwest sea. It does not eat, does not sleep, does not breathe. If it breathe, it formed wind and rain. Because it illuminates the darkness under Nine Springs, people call it a candle dragon (“Shan Hai Jing”). Later, people often use candle dragon, dragon candle, described in the dark sky of fire or light.
