On April 15, 1994, the signing of the World Trade Agreement re-established the global multilateral trade system and caused a drastic change in the global trade pattern. Under the new world multilateral trade system, international direct investment, as an extension and development of international trade, has become a major driver of world economic growth. The Agreement on Trade-Related Investment Measures (TRIMs) reached at the Uruguay Round of Multilateral Trade Negotiations has become an important part of the World Trade Agreement.
