弹词小说兴起于明代,至清代发展到鼎盛,是一种典型的女性文学作品,它是明清时期女性智慧的结晶,是了解当时女性思想、社会文化的重要作品。《子虚记》作为清中后期大型弹词作品,是中国弹词体小说四大名著之一,对于研究清末女性意识和自我价值、分析当时女性对于婚姻和爱情的追求,有着重要意义。同时,该书优美的语言、巧妙的诗句,又为全文增添了不少魅力。
