This paper outlines the work of Working Group 11.02 on direct water-cooled hydrogenerators. The first part of 1992 was finalized. This article examines the point of view and experience in utilizing water cooling technology between manufacturing plants and customers. The research is based on world-wide questionnaires. The questionnaire answer includes 11 user / consulting companies and 10 manufacturing plants. We think this includes most of the manufacturers and users with technical experience in water-cooled generators. The reported users have between 20 and 25 motors totaling more than one million hours of operation. Although water-cooled technologies have been approved for several years of operation, knowledge of water-cooling technologies is still limited in many manufacturers and users. The questionnaire collected a large amount of data and although the data were somewhat limited by the information provided, our team hopes the survey provided below will help to better understand the existing experience with water-cooled technologies.
