街道经济作为市区经济中一个十分活跃的层次,近几年来的长足发展是十分明显的。1992年,苏州沧浪区南门街道经济总量突破亿元大关,利润超过300万元,为市区首家亿元街道;1993年,经济总量达到2.2亿元,利润超过500万元,再次在城区各街道中名列榜首。南门街道是如何在辖区1.63平方公里的“螺蛳壳”里创造出奇迹的?答案十分简单:他们走出了一条跳出街道、发展街道的新路子。 冲破地域束缚的积极尝试 传统概念上的街道经济,是一种囿于地域的“弄堂经济”。“南门”使街道经济走出弄堂,冲破地域束缚,进入新的发展境地。 ——街道经济不再囿于封闭格局,而是向更大空间拓展。目前兴办跨地域企业累计达200家,占街道企业总数的71.42％。其中,有10多家在县市,有1家科研所办到了北京,1家酒楼办到了厦门鼓浪屿。 ——街道经济不再囿于小打小闹,而是向形成规模挺进。南门街道在向外拓展的同时,企业规模优势正在逐步形成。有两家企业资金规模超过150万元,50家企业在50万元左右,它的“苏州建筑机械成套设备公司”去年在昆山东方建筑装潢市场开设了昆山分公司后,又接连在常熟、吴县木渎建立连锁机构,今年又在苏州工业园区外围设立了分支机构。
